we knew that the venue offered a champagne toast during the cocktail hour but they serve it with strawberries!
and we also got a lot of compliments on the food (which we never ate and they don’t do tastings prior to the booking) and yes, the food was absolutely delicious.
under the reception tent and it really is amazing. it was another magical evening!
i have mentioned before that i’ve been trying to get color into my wardrobe. it’s easy to go with the white/grey/black palette because it’s safe but our trip to the netherlands stemmed this color boost for me. i have a rain jacket with a bright pink fleece liner and almost didn’t buy it because of the pink. but during our trip, i took off the black rain coat one day and wore the fleece. even though i felt “bright”, looking back at some of the pictures, i was amazed at what color could do. so while we were in the netherlands, i did some shopping and found a purple dress to wear for a wedding. and even though i spent more on it than i am used too (it just over a hundred dollars which to me was excessive since i’m cheap), i was happy with the dress. especially since the wedding palette was black & yellow and most guests wore black, i loved feeling bright.
and i even went a bit further and bought fancy shoes to match the dress (this is shocking, trust me. but i did switch to black flats at the reception because my feet were killing me. but i really did love the shoes and need to get used to them so i can wear them again :)
wedding anniversary flashback: may 2, 2009.
venue: calamigos ranch, malibu.
our location was amazing with all the wonderful photo ops that we were able to capture: ferris wheel. old barn. red barn. wood bridge. green field. big yellow school bus (we rented to take our out of town guests to/from the venue) giant oak tree to get married under. all these little parts made our wedding day special and perfect for us. and since i wasn’t tumblin’ back when we were going through the wedding planning, i figured it was time to throw in some of my favorite photos (all courtesy of wildflowers photos) of our kick ass day.
